Workshop: Collaborative Advancements in Transmission Electron Microscopy

First Workshop - November 5 & 7, 2024

Discover the latest breakthroughs in TEM technology and join a collaborative journey of innovation, discussion and direct engagement.

DATES: NOVEMBER 5 AND 7, 2024
TIME: 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM CET (both days)
LOCATION: ONLINE

Join us for an interactive workshop series designed to foster collaboration, knowledge exchange and co-development in the field of Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). Organized by Euro BioImaging-ERIC and CERIC-ERIC as part of the IMPRESS Project’s training activities, these workshops are an opportunity not only to learn about technological advancements but also to engage directly in discussions that will help shape future developments.

The first workshop, titled “Collaborative Advancements in Transmission Electron Microscopy: The IMPRESS Project”, will showcase innovations in bright electron sources, electron optics, detectors, in-situ methodologies, operando and correlative techniques, and software automation and control. Attendees will have the chance to explore these technologies in depth, contribute to discussions, and work alongside experts to identify how these innovations can be further developed and applied. Each session will include breakout sessions that offer a platform for interaction between project partners, technology experts, users, and the wider stakeholder community.

Workshop Structure

Day 1: November 5, 2024

The first session will focus on advancements in bright electron sources, including the development of multi-purpose bright electron sources and enhanced electron optics for improved imaging capabilities. Additionally, innovations in event-based detectors and software automation will be presented, aimed at optimizing data acquisition and analysis processes in TEM.

Day 2: November 7, 2024

The second session will highlight new methodologies for in-situ and operando applications, such as the use of MEMS-based devices for real-time observation of battery materials, novel carriers for bioimaging applications, and advanced platforms for integrating multiple analytical techniques like RIXS/EELS for a more comprehensive understanding of material properties.

Interactive Breakout Sessions

On both days, rotating breakout rooms will be hosted by consortium experts, providing a unique opportunity for deeper collaboration. Participants will have the chance to engage in detailed discussions on the presented technologies, ask questions, and contribute their perspectives. These breakout sessions are a key part of fostering a collaborative approach to innovation, and summaries of the discussions will be shared at the end of each session to support ongoing co-development.

Who Should Attend?

This workshop is open not only to consortium partners but also to external participants, including researchers, technology developers, users, and stakeholders from the broader scientific and technical community.

Attendees will have the opportunity to not just learn about the IMPRESS Project’s advancements but also to actively contribute to their further development.

If you are interested in being part of a collaborative effort to advance the field of Transmission Electron Microscopy, we invite you to join us.
