The Open Market Consultation (OMC), which is now completed, has marked an important milestone in the IMPRESS-PCP research and innovation journey. This preparatory phase has provided a crucial opportunity to establish a dialogue with the broader community of TEM users, technology vendors and all other stakeholders. The purpose of the OMC was not only to inform all interested parties about the IMPRESS project and the Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP) process, but also to gather valuable feedback on the state of the art, the challenges and the desired solutions for TEM.
The inputs received during the OMC phase have allowed us to build a comprehensive list of Questions and Answers (Q&A), providing sound insights and clarifications to all potential participants in the IMPRESS-PCP call for tenders. The Q&A list has been divided into three main topics of interest: Technical matters, Open Innovation, PCP Procedure.
Questions on technical matters explore a variety of issues related to the functional requirements of the hardware and software components that will be developed during the PCP. They cover technical aspects related to both TEMs and other instruments, from geometric dimensions of ports and sample holder rods of microscopes to synchrotron techniques targeted for correlative approaches.
Questions about the open innovation approach address issues regarding intellectual property rights and the sharing of information on FAIRcube, a platform developed by the IMPRESS project that follows the principles of open science.
Finally, questions about the PCP procedure focus on all aspects related to the PCP process, spanning from clarifications on how to apply to eligible parties and countries and to evaluation criteria.
